The bombing of Bezuidenhout (March 1945)
Towards the end of the Second World War,
on March 3, 1945, the RAF flew a bombing mission to destroy German V2 launch
pads installed in the park "Haagse Bos"
in The Hague. Due to a navigational error the urban
area south of the park was targeted and large parts were destroyed. Lily
Schnabel - the granddaughter of Friedrich Wilhelm
Arnold - had her home in one of the houses that was wrecked. This photo essay gives an impression of
the Bezuidenhout before and after the bombing and places it in the context
our family's history. |
